It is an advanced evolution of data sorage technology which leverages Biological Molicules DNA to store digital data or information and it is likely to be used in hard drives, pendrives and all the data storage devices but it is more efficient than the old devices like the hard drives, SSDs, etc becuase you can guess it's power by that a single DNA can store massive data potentially to be 455 Exabytes or 215 Petabytes which is about 215 Million Gigabytes (GB)How the DNA Data storage works:
It is based upon the binary code language which involves the encoding of digital information that is present in binary code as 0s and 1s and the concept is working under four necleotide bases of DNA:
- A (Adenine)
- C (Cytosine)
- T (Thymine)
- G (Guanine)
The Key steps in DNA Data Storage:
- Encoding Data: The binary format of digital data converted into DNA sequences with the use of an encoding algorithm that exists as 0s and 1s to nucleotide pairs (A, T, C, G).
- DNA Synthesis: once encodition is completed than the synthesis DNA starts creating using chemical synthesis techniques.
- Storage: Now the DNA starts preserving in a dry or liquid state.
- Retrieval (Sequencing & Decoding): When the user requires the stored data so the sequencing technologies such as next generation sequencing read the DNA and algorithm than convert it back into digital format.
